Week 16 NFL Picks

Filed under: NFL Picks — Mr. Football @ 1:52 pm

Last week: 2-0

Season: 16-8-4 (66.7%)

Minnesota Vikings +4 over Green Bay Packers

The press is seriously underrating Tavaris Jackson, and while Green Bay has some decent cornerbacks, I expect Jackson and the Vikes to come out on top. Favre’s team is slowly declining, and while he remains talented, he’ll force too many passes and won’t be able to pull out the win.

Philadelphia Eagles +7 over Dallas Cowboys

The Eagles defense is proudly sending two players to Honolulu for the Pro Bowl, and they will give Tony Romo nightmares. Julius Jones and Marion Barber III will be able to rack up yards against Philly, but don’t expect a blowout due to a solid Philly pass defense. If the Cowboys win this one, it should be close.

Week 15 NFL Picks

Filed under: NFL Picks — Mr. Football @ 3:52 pm

Last week: 1-0-1

Season: 14-8-4 (63.6%)

St. Louis Rams +2 over Oakland Raiders

The Rams offense has the ability to light it up every night, and the Raiders will struggle against them just like they failed to stop the Bengals.  I’m surprised that the Raiders are favored, even considering the fact that they’re home.  I like this game.

Tennessee Titans +3.5 over Jacksonville Jaguars

With a team as hot as Tennessee playing at home, I’m surprised that they’re favored by as much as they are.  The Jaguars are very good, but Vince Young will find a way to keep the Titans in it.  They should cover, although it could be a close one.

Week 14 NFL Picks

Filed under: NFL Draft — Mr. Football @ 3:49 pm

Last week: 0-1

Season: 13-9-3 (59.1%)

Philadelphia Eagles -2 over Washington Redskins

Jeff Garcia has surprised me and played rather well, and he should continue to do so against Washington. Clinton Portis is out, and while Ladell Betts will run well, he doesn’t have the big-game ability that Portis had. Jason Campbell will struggle, and the Eagles should win this one.

Cincinnatti Bengals -11 over Oakland Raiders

The Bengals offense has really been clicking, especially the Palmer-Chad Johnson connection. There’s no way the Raiders can stop Chad, TJ, and Rudi, so they should light up the scoreboard. Furthermore, the Raiders and their no-name offense won’t do anything to threaten the Raiders. This one’s money.

Week 13 NFL Picks

Filed under: NFL Draft — Mr. Football @ 7:55 pm

Last week: 1-0

Season: 13-8-3 (61.9%)

After betting big on one game last week, I’m going ahead with the same this week. If one game looks much better than the rest, go for it!

Denver Broncos -4.5 over Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks will have trouble against Denver’s speedy D, especially in a hostile environment at Mile High. While Plummer isn’t Denver’s answer, their offense will do enough to win this one by a TD.

Week 12 NFL Picks

Filed under: Uncategorized — Mr. Football @ 12:02 pm

Last Week: 0-1-1

Season: 12-8-3 (60%)

One game really stands out to me this week, so I’m just betting big on this one:

Indianapolis Colts -10 over Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles are hopeless in this game, ’nuff said. Their defense always struggles against Manning (whose doesn’t?), their run defense is poor, and their offense is without Dononvan McNabb. While you’d expect Andy Reid to run the ball since his star QB is out, expect him to stick to his gameplan and utilize Jeff Garcia. Indy’s weakness is their rushing D, but I’d be surprised if Westbrook carries the ball more than 15 times.

Week 11 NFL Picks

Filed under: NFL Picks — Mr. Football @ 10:33 am

Last week: 1-1

Season: 12-7-2 (63.2%)

Detroit Lions +2.5 over Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals have been playing poorly as of late, and cannot establish a run game. You need to churn out yards on the ground in order to win, so the Lions should cover in this one.

Cleveland Browns +4 over Pittsburgh Steelers

I nailed the underdog against Pittsburgh two weeks ago, and I think Cleveland will prove me right when I pick the dog again. The Browns are not perceived as a good team, but they hold their own in many difficult games. Look for Cleveland to cover.

Week 10 NFL Picks

Filed under: NFL Picks — Mr. Football @ 6:45 am

Last week: 2-0

Season: 11-6-2 (64.7%)

New York Jets +10.5 over New England Patriots

I think this spread is so large due to the public’s perception of both teams. The Jets have been playing surprisingly well, and the Patriots are not winning by huge margins. The Patriots are the better team, but this one should be closer than the spread would like you to think.

Kansas City +1 over Miami Dolphins

Miami is receiving some love after knocking off the Chicago Bears last week, but Kansas City should be able to hold their own on the road and win this one. The Dolphins will likely sturggle to put together much offensively, so as long as LJ can score a couple, they should cover.

Week 9 NFL Picks

Week 8: 1-1-0

Season: 9-6-2 (60%)

Cleveland +13 over San Diego

Yes, the Chargers are good and LT is tough to stop, but the Browns will not get blown out this game. They have enough firepower between Kellen Winslow Jr. and Braylon Edwards to keep this game within single digits; the Chargers will have a tough time winning by 2 TDs.

Denver +2.5 over Pittsburgh

Ben Roethlisberger is playing poorly this season, and the Steelers will have enough trouble beating the Broncos, let alone covering the spread. Expect this game to be very close, but Denver should win with a 2.5 point boost.

Week 8 NFL Picks

Filed under: NFL Picks — Mr. Football @ 2:30 pm

Week 7: 0-1-1

Season: 8-5-2

Arizona Cardinals +4 over Green Bay Packers

The Cardinals have been very disappointing this year and I’ve been very surprised. After disappointing me last week, I see them covering against the Packers. This should be a very good game, and I see a field goal deciding it for either team–thankfully, with +4, the Cards will be okay.

Indianpolis Colts +2.5 over Denver Broncos

Look for a handful of Plummer mistakes to give the Colts the win in this game, straight up. With 2.5 points on their side, this is a solid bet. The Colts have been shaky at times, but they’ll play up to par this game.

Good luck everyone!

Week 7 NFL Picks

Filed under: NFL Picks — Mr. Football @ 12:36 pm

Week 6: 1-1

Season: 8-4-1

Atlanta Falcons -3 over Pittsburgh Steelers

Michael Vick has been quietly having an excellent season, and he should be able to hold is own against the nasty Pittsbuegh defense.  The Steelers offense has been lackluster and shouldn’t expect to do much on the road–Atlanta wins this by a TD.

Arizona Cardinals -3 over Oakland Raiders

Once again, we return to a gambler’s best friend: Art Shell.  The Cardinals will have no trouble (even without Larry Fitzgerald) walking all over the Raiders, and Matt Leinart will continue to show he’s the real deal.  Oakland has the third-worst rushing defense in the league, so also don’t be surprised if Edge finally hits the century mark.  Bet hard on Arizona.
